This crane is a slewing, horizontally luffing, jib portal crane, which is applied for the lifting heavy and large loads such as hull sections, machines and equipment on shipways, quays and in docks.

The slewing part of this crane mounted on the portal is able to make a turn of 360 degrees.

The slewing part of the crane is composed of boom, turntable, A-frame, machinery house, rotary column as well as hoisting, luffing, slewing mechanisms which are mounted in the machinery house. The fixed part is composed of the portal, power supply equipment, traveling bogies and devices on the anchorage.

The main structural members which are of welded construction, are composed of beams, rods which are made of steel plate and steel shapes. The boom is the quadrilateral truss structure made of steel tubes and steel plate welded. The lower part of the portal is rigid frame structure in the space, made of box-type beams. The upper part is an eight truss rod structure made of steel tubes with thin wall. The rest members are the structures of beams, rods which are made of welded steel plates.

Since the boom is the single jib of the truss structure made of steel tubes, it is light in weight, the surface catching the wind and coefficient of the wind force are small, and therefore the whole crane is light in weight.

Roller bearings are adopted on all hinges of the jib system. Since more wire rope pulleys are mounted on the head of the jib and on the top of A-frame, especially the head of the jib is higher, it is not convenient for the workers to go up and down. For this reason, the hinges on the head of the jib are lubricated by motorized centralized lubrication system. While the pulleys on the top of A-frame and all the hinges on the traveling bogies are lubricated separately by the manual lubricating system, the rest hinges are lubricated manually.

Besides, the staircases are provided from the ground to the machinery room and operator’s cab, also from the turntable along the A-frame up to the top of A-frame.

The power, 6kV, 3 phases, is supplied to the level luffing crane via a cable reel with a maximum cable storage capacity of 120m long.

For the safety measures, there are overload protection device, load and radius indicators, anemometer, rail clamping devices, and anti-typhoon anchoring units as well as limit switches and signals for all units.

The level luffing crane is also equipped with lighting and signal facilities for night operation. Telephones and walkie-talkies are also provided for communication between the operator cabin and the ground.
